Hinged lid with a handle in the form of a rooster’s comb, topped with a modeled vine branch with clusters. Materials/ornaments: rocaille, vine, rooster’s comb. Style: Rococo. Date: 1768, Gdansk, Royal Prussia, Poland. Function: sugar vessel. Dimensions: height 10 cm, width 14.5 cm, depth 10 cm; weight 385 g. Provenance: purchase., A shiny metallic oval container with an ornate lid sits on a flat surface supported by a few short decorative feet; the surface of the container is reflective and smooth with embossed ornamental detailing on its front and floral-like embellishments on the lid. The colors visible are shades of silver and gray across the container and lid, with lighter silver highlights where light reflects and darker gray shadows on the underside and background. The background is a gradient of gray.
