Pocket watch by Carl Willougby, 2nd quarter of the 18th century, London, England. Silver pocket watch with striking function in a partially openwork case richly engraved over the entire surface with acanthus twig and flowers, birds and two masks male and female, acanthus scrolls, fish-scale ornament, shells and decorative masks. In the centre a circular reserve of acanthus twig, volutes and fish scales enclosing a bell. Glazed lid set in an openwork frame decorated with a floral twig and a broken ribbon. Mechanism between two circular plates supported by columns, with a spindle escapement, a worm with a chain, and a balance drum. Gilded openwork crown engraved with an acanthus twig combined with an openwork foot and a woman's mask. White-enameled dial edged with a gilded knurled ribbon, hour markers in Arabic numerals, minutes marked with vertical lines; steel hands. Height 8 cm, width 5.5 cm, dial diameter 4.5 cm., A rounded metallic object with ornate openwork decoration all around its lower half, featuring swirling floral and leaf motifs in silver tones; the upper half is smooth and domed in a lighter silvery color, and there is a small hinge-like projection on one side with a tiny darker circular detail; the background is plain and light gray-white.
