Pocket watch with striking function; silver in a partially openwork case, richly decorated with engraved ornament covering the entire surface of acanthus twigs and flowers with birds and two masks. In the centre a circular reserve made of acanthus twig, volutes and fish scales, inside a bell. Glazed lid enclosed by an openwork frame decorated with a floral twig and a broken ribbon. Mechanism between two circular plates supported by columns, with a spindle escapement, a worm with a chain, and a balance drum. Gilded, openwork crown with an engraved acanthus twig, combined with an openwork foot and a woman's mask. White-enameled dial edged with a gilded, knurled ribbon, hour markers in Arabic numerals, minutes marked with vertical lines; steel hands. 2nd quarter of the 18th century, London, England. Timepiece; height 8 cm, width 5.5 cm, dial diameter 4.5 cm., A close-up view of an ornate oval metallic object photographed from the side, showing intricate openwork scrolling and floral patterns on one half and a smooth rounded glass-like surface on the other half; the metal appears silver with areas of darker shadow and fine engraved detailing, and the glass-like surface is translucent with subtle reflections; a hinge and a looped suspension fitting are visible at the top in the same silver tone, and the background is a uniform pale off-white.
