Platter by Johann Jacob Haase II active from 1759, died 1775, ca. 1780. Oval cake stand with a mirror decorated in relief with a covered vase topped by a bouquet of carnations, tulips, and roses; surrounded by a band of chien courant running wave motif enclosed in pearling, above it a rooster's comb; irregularly cut edge with a repeated running-wave motif. At the bottom a dotted inscription with the date MM & Fr.ACM / Ao 1782 4 Junii. Note: discrepancy between the goldsmith’s recorded activity died 1775 and the 1782 hallmark of Ellerholtz; studies do not confirm whether the widow or son continued the workshop. Silver; vessel. Measurements: height 2.2 cm, width 21.9 cm, depth 15.2 cm, weight 159 g. Made in Gdansk, Royal Prussia, Poland., A shallow decorative oval metal dish with an ornate scalloped rim and embossed floral and urn motifs, shown against a smooth gray background; the dish displays polished and matte areas with visible texture, a raised beaded inner border, stylized leaves and flowers radiating from a central pedestal urn, and scroll-like details along the edge in shades of silver and gray.
