Rectangular key case with a hinged lid and two clasp hooks. Trimmed with red leather, with gilded embossing; on the lid, a frame along the edge with an ornament in the corners. In the centre, a ducal mitre. On the underside, a gilded frame along the edge, in the centre a non-gilded embossed rhombus with an inscribed quatrefoil, and in the centre a rhombus with a four-petal rosette. Glued on a printed card with inventory numbers numbers added in ink. Inside: typewritten note describing presentation in 1833 as a wedding gift. 1833, Darmstadt, Germany. Varia. Height 9.8 cm, width 5.9 cm, depth 1.8 cm., A slim closed book seen from its fore edge with a vertical orientation, covered in red leather with worn areas and decorative gold tooling along the edges; two small metal clasps in a dull brass color are attached along the fore edge, each with a rounded fastening and a short hinge, and there are thin gold lines running parallel to the spine; the background is a smooth pale gray.
