Pocket watch with key, Eardley Norton fl. 1770–1792; born 1728, died 1792 — casemaker Germany; 3rd quarter of the 18th century — transmission, Pocket repeater in two silver cases: smooth outer case; inner case with framed glazed lid and a mechanism cover engraved with an openwork floral/acanthus twig, winding hole, and bell. White enameled dial with black Roman hour numerals, minute scale marked with dashes, calendar with Arabic numerals, three steel hands hour and minute openwork weave, third straight for date, small seconds subdial with Arabic numerals. Dial signed “EARDLEY NORTON / LONDON.” Movement: gilded brass frame with circular plates connected by pillars, spring-powered drive, spindle escapement; lower plate with openwork crown richly decorated with acanthus tendrils and engraved acanthus volutes; cut-out reserve bears engraved signature “Eardley / Norton London.” Preserved winding key on chain. 3rd quarter of the 18th century. Timepiece. Dimensions: height 8 cm, width 6.2 cm, dial diameter 5.3 cm., A round metallic pocket watch with an engraved decorative border and a sunburst motif on its face, attached to a short brass chain with a ring and a small winding key; visible colors include silver, brassy gold, dark gray, and pale off-white in the background.
