Key, locksmithing, rosette ornament. A key of the so-called Venetian type with a smooth tubular shaft and a feather extending below the shaft; lower edge widened on one side. Turned, profiled knot; circular handle with an inscribed six-pointed rosette with circles between the radii. The form of the knot is not found in other keys from that period. Perhaps 19th century, 17th century, unknown locality, locksmithing., A single ornate metal key is shown against a plain light gray background, with a round decorative bow featuring a filigree pattern and a small attached ring, a cylindrical stem with a few ridged bands near the top, and a notched bit at the bottom; visible colors include shades of metallic gray and silver and the light gray of the background.
