Tiled clock by Michael Gugenmus 1705–1775, maker/watchmaker. Rococo style with Regency ornament, 2nd half of the 18th century. Hexagonal table clock of gilded bronze on six volute legs, glazed side walls; silver-plated ring-shaped dial with black Roman numerals for hours and Arabic minutes, two winding holes. Center engraved Regency-Rococo cartouche with the signature Gugenmos/Varssavie. Hinged flap closing the mechanism; on the front plate of the mechanism a modest bun and a hammer with an engraved bronze head. Signature: Johann / Michael / Gugenmus / A Varsovie. Mechanism with strike repeater and a handle on the side wall under the upper edge. Timepiece; height 8.5 cm, width 13.5 cm, depth 13.5 cm. Place of origin: Warsaw, Poland., A hexagonal metallic object with a visible inner mechanism in gold tones is positioned upright behind a round shallow bowl-like receptacle that rests on an ornate stand; the stand and bowl show metallic colors including silver, bronze, and brass with areas of darker patina, and the mechanism plate displays gold and brass hues with small dark screws and a curved lever in a silvery color; the stand has decorative scroll-shaped feet in a darker metallic tone and the background is a smooth light gray.
