Seven weights in the form of bowls—truncated cones; the eighth, largest, serves as a container for the others and has a hinged lid with a movable handle mounted in pinnacles shaped like simplified vases. On the lid: stamped 16 MARK, Prussian eagle, BERLIN stamp; another mark engraved 160; on the side engraved 152. Late 18th century, Germany. Materials: measures and weights. Maker: unknown., A brass container with a domed lid and a turned finial on top, showing a warm golden color with areas of darker patina and small spots. The container has a tapered cylindrical body and a decorative rim beneath the lid with a subtle rope-like pattern, and a pair of hinged bracket-like handles on either side with rounded end pieces, all in the same brass tones. The lid has an irregularly shaped flat top section with cutouts around the central finial, and the finial itself is a turned, vase-like form stacked with rounded and cylindrical segments. The background is a uniform light gray and the object rests on a reflective surface that shows a faint mirror image beneath it.
