Souvenir spoon with ovoid scoop, gilded, decorated with an engraved representation of a Victorian-style building resembling a French chateau built on a rock in 1896 burned down in 1907 with the inscription in italics SAN FRANCISCO CLIFF/HOUSE; a widening handle with a profiled edge decorated with a relief ornament on both sides, on one side an inscription along the handle CALIFORNIA 1849 adoption of the California Constitution and the beginning of the gold rush, above it a gold prospector; in the finial a bear symbolizing the state of California; on the reverse fruit characteristic of California; in the finial the state emblem — a seated Minerva, next to her a lying bear, with a background landscape.
