Souvenir spoon, Gorham Mfg. Co. goldsmith's manufactory; fl. 1865-. Souvenir spoon with an ovoid scoop decorated inside with a relief representation of armament and uniform accessories of the American infantry and cavalry; flat, profiled, widening handle with a heart-shaped tip, edged with twisted wire imitating aglets. Along the handle is the inscription ARMY AND NAVY; above it an enameled United States flag in a cartouche, held in the talons by an eagle with upraised wings, on the wings a sash with the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM. At the end of the handle, two emblems — the Navy US Navy and the Army US Army — in circular reserves; on the reverse of the handle, accessories of the United States Navy — an anchor with crossed swords, below crossed cannon barrels. Late 19th century, Providence, United States of America. Souvenir, cutlery; height 15 cm, width 3.3 cm, weight 35 g., A silver-colored ornate spoon lies horizontally against a gray background, with an oval bowl on the left and a decorative handle extending to the right; the bowl shows a raised arrangement of objects and shapes in matching silver tones, while the handle features intricate raised patterns and sculpted motifs, including a small area of blue and red enamel near the end, and textured borders running along its length.
