Souvenir spoon, Towle Silversmith fl. 1882-, role classification of maker, goldsmith company author, Paderewski, Ignacy Jan 1860-1941 — souvenir spoon with an ovoid dipper with a pointed tip, with a scene depicting the interior of a mine with two men with pickaxes; on the reverse an engraved inscription in cursive Batle Mont probably referring to Battle Mount, a city in Nevada; straight, flaring handle with a lanceolate tip, handle grip with a depiction of a man standing by a well, turning a crank, winding up a chain running along the handle, to which a bucket filled with ore is attached at the end, reaching into the mine; on the reverse of the handle a crossed shovel, pickaxe and a rope with an incomprehensible inscription; late 19th century; United States of America; cutlery; height 14.6 cm, width 2.3 cm, weight 30 g, A single metal spoon lies horizontally on a flat surface, showing a reflective bowl with decorative embossed patterns and a gently curved handle with a beaded edge and ornate detailing; the scene predominantly features shades of gray and silver with subtle highlights and shadows on the spoon and a smooth gray background.
