Toilet box by Thomas I Pitts fl. 1755–ca.1793, goldsmith; Classicism style; 1780/1781, London, England. Classicist round toilet box with lid, height 5.2 cm, diameter 7.9 cm, weight 206 g. Round lid slightly arched and edged with a knurled wavy running-dog ornament; centrally placed circular medallion with relief of Athena wearing a helmet and holding a spear. Body decorated with laurel festoons suspended from rosette medallions; lower edge with a knurled belt of stylized cymatium; right side with a circular reserve and an olive branch. Ornament: festoons, bay leaves, cymatium; motifs: Athena; style references: George III, Georgian., A circular metallic object with a smooth, slightly scratched surface in a golden-beige tone set against a neutral pale background; the rim shows a thin band of silver and small dark marks around the edge; near the top there are a few small, slightly raised shapes and a faint irregular darker smudge appears near the center; overall colors visible are golden-beige, silver, pale off-white, and small areas of dark gray.
