Porridge bowl - porringer. Maker: Mappin & Webb Ltd goldsmith, silversmith, dealer; fl. 1859-. Cylindrical bowl with a flat bottom, slightly widening towards the top, with a turned-up edge edged with a smooth half-cylinder. Two handles on the sides in the shape of figurines of boys dressed in jockey outfits, riding toy horses on sticks. Function: porridge dish/porringer; also associated with children's games, toy horses. Date: 1935/1936. Place: Sheffield, England, Great Britain. Dimensions: height 5.6 cm; width 16.3 cm; depth 10.5 cm; weight 125 g., A shiny metal bowl with a rounded rim sits against a pale background, showing a reflective interior surface and a smooth exterior. The bowl has a small decorative handle or figure attached to its front edge that resembles a standing person, and a rounded finial or knob centered on the rim at the back. The visible colors are silver tones, light gray, and subtle darker gray reflections, with a mostly white to very light gray background.
