Teapot, George McHattie fl. 1799–ca. 1825, goldsmith. Rectangular teapot with rounded edges, supported by four ball feet. Decorated with hoardings ornament at the bottom, above which are two smooth half-cylinders; at the narrowing is an engraved band of braid. Upper edge has a collar decorated with hoardings and flowers. Hinged, rectangular, profiled lid edged with tendril. Spout-shaped spout set high on the axis; broken ear with bone insulators. English Regency style. Tea vessel. Inscribed/dated 1819–1820. Edinburgh, Scotland, Great Britain. Materials/details: vessel; height 16 cm, width 28.5 cm, depth 13.5 cm, weight 735 g., A silver teapot with ornate raised and engraved decoration sits on a light gray background; the body is rounded with scalloped lower panels and rests on a few small spherical feet, the lid is domed with layered concentric bands and a floral rosette around a central finial, and the spout curves outward ending in a slightly flared tip with decorative detail. The handle is angular with a curved inner grip and features small horizontal bands of a golden color near its attachments, with additional small circular floral motifs where it meets the body. The overall visible colors are silver, gray, and a touch of gold.
