Hinged lid opens to reveal an openwork insert engraved with plant scrolls. Maker: Thomas Shaw fl. 1822–ca. 1840; 1782–1845, England, Birmingham. Materials/technique: engraved silver. Function: toiletry fragrance container. Dimensions: height 2.1 cm, width 1.5 cm, depth 1 cm; weight 10 g., A small metallic rectangular box with its lid open revealing an inner compartment and a decorative pierced panel; the exterior metal appears silver-colored with engraved patterns on the lid, while the interior and the decorative panel show a golden-colored finish visible through ornate swirling cutouts; the pierced panel has a floral or scroll-like pattern with a mix of silver and gold tones, and the hinge and edges show the same silver color; the background is a plain light gray.
