Wine cooler by Boulton & Plate Co. Birmingham; goldsmith and plater firm; fl. 1768–1834. Classicist/Georgian style, 1826/1827. Silver vessel, height 30 cm, width 27 cm, depth 24.5 cm, weight 3725 g. On a circular foot decorated with a half-cylinder of laurel and acanthus leaves overlapping a short stem; body enclosed below with large acanthus leaves, above decorated with vines in a diagonal rhombic braid. Front plaque with horse racers; a secondary plaque with an inscription in Cyrillic script is attached on the back original inscription, probably referring to a prize in horse races, has been erased. Upper edge with a decorative strip of vines; rim edged with a stylized cymatium; sides with massive ears mounted in satyr masks. Ornamentation includes vine, acanthus leaf, cymatium, satyr heads; iconography includes jockey on horse and horse racing., A decorative ornate vessel with a metallic sheen in gold and pale brass tones, featuring a wide flared rim with repeating rounded motifs, a band of sculpted grapevines with leaves and grape clusters, and a central section adorned with sculpted faces and leafy scrollwork; the lower body and pedestal display acanthus leaf patterns, bead-like rings, and textured geometric borders, all rendered in the same gold and brass colors against a neutral light gray background.
