Single-candle candlestick by John Schofield fl. 1776–1796. Classicism/Georgian style with acanthus ornament and oak leaves. The candlestick is supported on a circular, stepped-profile foot decorated with a band of stylised acanthus tendrils with flowers; faceted stem enclosed at the bottom by lanceolate leaves, widening toward the top and terminating in a ring knurled with oak leaves. Vase sleeve with lanceolate leaves at the bottom, faceted above with a slightly rolled-up edge. Dated 1789/1790, London, England. Lighting object. Height 29.8 cm; diameter 13.8 cm; weight approx. 680 g., A tall, slender metallic candlestick with a flared top cup, a narrow stem that widens into a rounded base, and ornate carved banding and fluted details along the upper and lower sections; the surface appears smooth and reflective with a few darker patina areas, and the visible colors are silver, gray, and subtle off-white tones.
