Punch vase by Paul Storr 1771–1844 and Storr & Mortimer London; goldsmiths, fl. 1822–1838. English, 1831/1832. Silver punch vessel, spherical flattened eight-part, burled and ribbed with burling and ribbing; supported on four volute leafy feet. Two handles decorated with acanthus leaves and stylized shells. Upper edge turned up and decorated with relief ornament of leaves and shells. Belly engraved with a coat of arms in a decorative cartouche. Materials/technique: silver; motifs include acanthus, shells, volutes. Dimensions: height 15.5 cm, width 36.2 cm, depth 27.8 cm; weight 2490 g., A shiny silver bowl with ornate scrolling handles and feet sits against a pale gray background, the bowl's rounded body reflecting light and showing smooth and slightly dimpled surfaces, the rim decorated with carved floral and leaf motifs, the handles and feet featuring elaborate acanthus-like scrollwork and textured detailing in the same silver tone, and the overall colors visible are silver and shades of gray.
