Classicist Two-Armed Candelabra, Schofield, John fl. 1776–1796, maker goldsmith; classicism, Georgian/George III style. Classicist two-armed candelabra on a square base surrounded by godron ornament, passing into a circular foot decorated with a surrounding rosette; faceted stem enclosed at the top with a knurled floral tendril, terminating in a vase-shaped socket decorated with acanthus leaves and facets, edged with godrons, in which is set a setting in the form of two faceted, rotating arms ending with plate-shaped profils and vase-shaped candle holders, separated by a decorative vase with a lid. Engraved on several elements with a tied monogram PHB, dated 1786/1787, London, England. Function: lighting. Dimensions: height 47.5 cm, width 38 cm, depth 13 cm; weight 850 g., A silver three-armed candelabrum with a central fluted finial and two curved arms extending outward, each arm ending in a decorative holder with a fluted cup and a round drip plate with a beaded edge; the metal surface is reflective with polished highlights and muted shadows, showing tones of silver and gray against a plain white background.
