Classicist Two-Armed Candelabra, Schofield, John fl. 1776–1796 goldsmith, classicism, godron ornaments, monograms, faceting, leaves ornament, Georgian, George III. Classicist two-armed candelabra on a square base surrounded by godron ornament, passing into a circular foot decorated with a surrounding rosette; faceted stem enclosed at the top with a knurled floral tendril, terminating in a vase-shaped socket decorated with acanthus leaves and facets, edged with godrons, in which is set a setting in the form of two faceted, rotating arms ending with plate-shaped profils and vase-shaped candle holders, separated by a decorative vase with a lid. Engraved on several elements with a tied monogram PHB, 1786/1787, London, England, Great Britain. Function: lighting. Height 47.5 cm, width 38 cm, depth 13 cm, weight 850 g., A metallic three-arm candle holder with a central finial and two outward-curving arms ending in raised circular drip plates and cup-shaped holders; the metal surface is polished and reflective with visible decorative fluting and leaf-like patterns on the cups and beaded edges on the plates, and the colors visible are silver tones with highlights and darker gray shadows against a pale gray background.
