Tea caddy, Nash, Bowles fl. 1720–ca. 1725 goldsmith; rococo; tea accessory; rocaille and floral roses, flowers ornament. Cuboid tea caddy with circular domed lid and a bowl on top; chamfered side edges; movable slide-in bottom. Surface decorated with repoussé floral and rocaille motifs on a grained background; front with an oval rocaille cartouche topped with an eagle, engraved inscription inside: KENNETH Mc LEOD, / to his much loved Sister / ANNE ZABA, / Oct 23rd 1848; back with a bouquet of flowers; sides with blooming leafy roses. Engraved S on the bottom; marks 1723/1724 tins; mid-19th century decoration. London, England, Great Britain. Vessel; height 12 cm, width 7.7 cm, depth 5.7 cm, weight ca. 230 g., A flat, octagonal object with worn, rough edges sits centered on a very light, nearly white background; the object is primarily pale gray with areas of off-white and subtle beige discoloration, and it shows a few darker gray marks and smudges near the edges and corners.
