Tea caddy by Nash, Bowles fl. 1720–ca.1725, goldsmith; rococo style. Cuboid tea caddy with a circular domed lid and a bowl on the top; chamfered side edges; movable slide-in bottom. Surface decorated with repoussé ornament with floral and rocaille motifs on a grained background; on the front an oval rocaille cartouche topped with an eagle, with an engraved inscription inside: KENNETH Mc LEOD, / to his much loved Sister / ANNE ZABA, / Oct 23 rd 1848; on the back wall a bouquet of flowers; on the sides blooming, leafy roses. Engraved S on the bottom. Dates: 1723/1724 tins, ca. mid-19th century decoration. Place of origin: London, England, Great Britain. Function: vessel for loose-leaf tea; accessories: tea. Dimensions: height 12 cm, width 7.7 cm, depth 5.7 cm; weight ca. 230 g., A metallic octagonal object viewed from above with a raised circular center and decorative concentric ridges and scalloped etching, showing a smooth shiny surface with small dark spots and areas of slight tarnish; the visible colors are silver, white, and small accents of dark gray.
