Tea caddy, Nash, Bowles fl. 1720–ca. 1725 goldsmith; rococo; tea accessory. Cuboid tea caddy with a circular domed lid and a bowl on the top; chamfered side edges; movable slide-in bottom. Surface decorated with repoussé floral and rocaille motifs on a grained background; front with an oval rocaille cartouche topped with an eagle, engraved inscription inside: KENNETH Mc LEOD, / to his much loved Sister / ANNE ZABA, / Oct 23 rd 1848; back with a bouquet of flowers; sides with blooming, leafy roses. Engraved S on the bottom; 1723/1724 tins; decoration ca. mid-19th century; London, England, Great Britain. Vessel. Height 12 cm; width 7.7 cm; depth 5.7 cm; weight ca. 230 g., A decorative metal container with a domed lid sits against a plain background, shown in metallic silver tones with lighter highlights and subtle darker shadows; the container has an octagonal or faceted body with carved or embossed floral and leaf motifs on its panels, including raised rosette shapes and textured backgrounds, and scalloped, repeating fan-like patterns on alternating panels; the lid features concentric ridges and scalloped engraving and a rounded finial on top, while the base has a stepped rim with a textured band, and overall the object displays polished reflective surfaces and intricate engraved detailing in silver and gray hues.
