Tea caddy, Nash, Bowles fl. 1720–ca.1725 goldsmith; rococo; tea accessory; rocaille and floral roses, flowers ornament. Cuboid tea caddy with circular domed lid and a bowl on top; chamfered side edges; movable slide-in bottom. Surface decorated with repoussé floral and rocaille motifs on a grained background; front with an oval rocaille cartouche topped by an eagle, engraved inscription inside: KENNETH Mc LEOD, / to his much loved Sister / ANNE ZABA, / Octr 23 rd 1848; back wall with a bouquet of flowers; side walls with blooming, leafy roses. Engraved A on the bottom. Dated 1723/1724 tins; mid-19th century decoration. Place of origin: London, England. Vessel. Height 12 cm; width 7.7 cm; depth 5.7 cm; weight ca. 230 g., A silver-colored metal container with a rectangular base and a domed, removable lid sits against a light gray background. The main body has ornate engraved and embossed decoration including flowing acanthus-like foliage, curved cartouche shapes, and textured panels on the front and sides. The lid is rounded with banded, scalloped and dotted engraved patterns and a small knob on top. The sides of the container feature repeating scallop-like motifs framed by narrow borders. The overall finish is reflective metallic silver with areas of fine stippled texture and polished smooth surfaces.
