Two-candle candelabrum by Charles Hougham fl. 1769–1793. Classicism/George III Georgian style; fluted, pearling and rosette ornament. Two-armed candelabrum on an oval foot bordered with pearling and decorated with a knobbed rosette. Conical fluted stem topped with a vase-shaped socket holding a setting with two S-shaped arms terminating in saucers and vase-shaped sockets; central vase topped with a ball; sleeves decorated halfway with vertical flutes, smooth above. Dated 1787/1788. England, London. Function: lighting. Height 38 cm, width 39 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 1060 g., A tall metallic object with a silvery finish stands against a neutral gray background; it has a rounded cup-like top with vertical fluted details, a narrow stem with ornate circular and scalloped decoration, a long tapered column featuring vertical fluting, and a flared circular base with radiating ridges and a beaded edge, all showing reflective silver tones and subtle gray shadows.
