Two-candle candelabrum, Hougham, Charles fl. 1769–1793 goldsmith, classicism, George III, Georgian. Two-armed candelabrum on an oval foot, bordered with pearling and decorated with a knobbed rosette. Conical, fluted stem topped with a vase-shaped socket, in which is set a setting with two S-shaped arms terminating in saucers and vase-shaped sockets with drip pans; in the centre between the arms is a vase topped with a ball; sleeves decorated halfway with vertical flutes, smooth above. 1787/1788. Height 38 cm; width 39 cm; depth 12 cm; weight 1060 g., A tall, slender silver candlestick with fluted and reeded details, showing a round, ridged base that fans upward into a tapered column with vertical grooves, a decorative collar with a band of repeating scallop-like motifs, a midsection featuring an ornate knop and a shallow circular dish with a beaded rim, and a cup-shaped holder at the top with fluted lower surface and a beaded edge; the visible colors are silver and shades of gray against a neutral gray background.
