Toilet box by Edward Fernell fl. 1779–1796?, goldsmith. Round box, smooth with a slightly domed lid edged with a profiled band. Georgian/Classicism/George III style. Date: 1792–1793. Material/technique: presumably gold/silver scrap? Function: container for toilet accessories. Place of origin: London, England, Great Britain. Dimensions: height 4.2 cm, diameter 8.2 cm, weight 115 g., A smooth, round metal container with a domed lid sits on a flat surface; the container and lid are silvery and reflective with a few subtle darker and lighter patches, and the lid edge has a group of thin concentric ridges. The background is a light gray to off-white, and the surface beneath the container is a slightly lighter shade.
