Teapot by John Emes fl. 1796–1808, English silver, c. 1806–1807. Ovoid teapot on a circular base with lid; decorated on the upper part of the belly with a wide band of meander ornament and braid. Side handle ribbon-shaped and broken in design, decorated with braid. Spout set high, decorated at the base with a stylised palmette. Lid finished with a knob-shaped handle. Belly engraved with a coat of arms on one side and a cross on the other. Empire/George III/Georgian style. Materials/technique: silver; function: tea vessel. Dimensions: height 17.9 cm, width 23.7 cm; weight 815 g. Made in London, England., A polished metal teapot with a curved spout and a tall angular handle sits against a light gray background; the body is rounded with a slightly stepped circular base and a domed lid topped by a small finial. The teapot surface shows an engraved band of geometric and braided patterns around the upper rim and decorative engraving on the lid and handle, and a simple engraved emblem on the front. Visible colors include silver tones of the metal and the pale gray background.
