Teapot by Henry Moreton fl. 1899–1930s, factory owner, goldsmith; neo-Rococo style, relief decoration. Egg-shaped teapot on an oval plinth with spout-shaped side spout; sleeves for attaching a wooden handle mounted on the axis wooden handle added contemporaneously. Upper edge bordered by a band of godrons with a wide collar above; hinged, centrally arched lid topped with a handle. Decorated overall with neo-Rococo relief motifs and acanthus leaves; oval blind reserve on the belly with acanthus rim. Dated 1909/1910. England, Chester. Vessel. Height 13.5 cm, width 26 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 555 g., A sculpted metal vessel with an open hinged lid sits against a light gray background; the vessel has a rounded body with ornate relief decoration featuring flowing leaf and floral motifs and textured areas, and a prominent spout rising from the front that is decorated with a vertical leaf-like design. The hinged lid has an inner surface with carved swirling patterns and a patina that shows warm brown and golden tones contrasting with the cooler silvery metal of the exterior. The exterior surfaces are primarily silver and gray with subtle darker accents in recessed areas and a few warmer brownish spots on the lid interior.
