Coffee pot by John Septimus Beresford London goldsmith, active 1880–89. Pear-shaped jug, spirally chased in the lower part, smooth above, decorated with a half-cylinder under the upper flared rim; short spout; wooden handle not original mounted in sleeves; hinged domed lid, spirally knotted, topped with a ball. 1888–1889. Silver. Great Britain, England, London. Height 13 cm, width 12 cm, depth 6.8 cm, weight 179 g., A single ornate pitcher with a lid is centered against a plain light background, the pitcher appears primarily white with subtle gray shading and darker worn areas; it has a rounded body with vertical fluted ridges and a band of decorative scalloped detailing near the top, a tapered neck leading to a spout with a narrow opening and a raised decorative collar, and a domed lid topped by a rounded knob that shows some darker spots; a small portion of a brown element is visible behind the lid.
