Openwork basket by Comyns & Sons London; goldsmiths’ firm, fl. 1859–1953. Basket on a circular foot, four-sided openwork, decorated with a motif of four-leaf rosettes and smooth stylised leaves and ribbons in the corners; irregularly cut edge enclosed in a godron half-cylinder and decorated with acanthus leaves. Materials/technique: openwork metal with godron and acanthus ornament. Date: 1904/1905. Place: London, England, Great Britain. Classification: vessel. Dimensions: height 4.5 cm; width 15 cm; depth 15 cm; weight 155 g., A decorative metal basket with an openwork lattice pattern and ornate scrolling edges, shown against a plain light background. The basket has a shallow bowl shape with curved handles integrated into the rim and a raised central section with embossed floral and bead-like motifs. The metal surface shows polished and slightly tarnished areas. Visible colors include silver-gray tones and subtle darker gray spots.
