Openwork basket by Comyns & Sons London; goldsmiths' firm; fl. 1859–1953. Four-sided openwork basket on a circular foot, decorated with a motif of four-leaf rosettes, smooth stylised leaves and ribbons in the corners. Irregularly cut edge enclosed in a godron half-cylinder and decorated with acanthus leaves. Openwork, godron ornaments, acanthus leaf ornament. Date: 1904–1905. Place: London, England, Great Britain. Medium/function: vessel. Dimensions: height 4.5 cm; width 15 cm; depth 15 cm; weight 155 g., A square, ornate metal tray with a pierced lattice pattern and scalloped edges, shown from above with its underside visible; the tray has raised rounded feet and decorative punched and chased floral motifs around a central circular recessed area; the metal surface shows areas of tarnish and wear with darker spots and smudges, and the overall colors visible are silver, gray, and darker gray tones.
