Single-candle candlestick, William Cafe fl. 1757–ca.1802, rococo George II style. Silver scrap—single-candle candlestick on a raised, domed foot with a hexagonal rim decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Decorated with rococo motifs: rocailles, plant tendrils, flowers, cartouches, shells and acanthus leaves; overall decoration slightly spirally twisted. Dated 1763/1764. London, England. Lighting. Height 29 cm; diameter 16.9 cm; weight 717 g., A single ornate candlestick stands against a plain light gray background; the candlestick is metallic silver in color with a polished sheen and features intricate carved floral and leaf motifs along its shaft and base, including rounded shapes, scrolling patterns, and raised rose-like flowers; the base spreads outward into a decorative, scalloped form with more floral relief and curved accents, and the top has a cylindrical holder with a slightly darker interior.
