Single-candle candlestick by William Café fl. 1757–ca. 1802, rococo, 1763–1764, England, London. Rococo single-candle candlestick on a raised domed foot with a hexagonal rim, decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Decorated with rococo motifs in the George II style — rocailles, plant tendrils, flowers, cartouches, shells and acanthus leaves — with the entire decoration slightly spirally twisted. Materials/technique: scrap. Function: lighting. Dimensions: height 29 cm, diameter 16.9 cm, weight 717 g., A decorative metallic object with an ornate floral relief seen from above, featuring a central cylindrical opening and a scalloped edge; the surface shows raised sculpted flowers, leaves, and scrollwork in a silvery finish with subtle darker shadows and a small area of brown visible inside the central opening, all set against a pale off-white background.
