Single-candle candlestick, William fl. 1757–ca. 1802 goldsmith, rococo, scrap - purchase, plant ornaments, shells ornament, rocaille ornament, cartouches, flowers ornament, Georgian, George II style. Rococo single-candle candlestick on a raised domed foot with a hexagonal rim, decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft, terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Decorated with rocailles, plant tendrils, flowers, cartouches, shells and acanthus leaves; the entire decoration is slightly spirally twisted. 1763/1764, London, England. Function: lighting. Height 29 cm; diameter 16.9 cm; weight 717 g., The image shows a metallic decorative object with ornate floral and leaf patterns, viewed from above; the object has a central circular opening surrounded by raised floral relief and sits on a scalloped base with embossed flowers and curved lines; the visible colors are silver, white, and a darker brownish tone inside the central opening.
