Single-candle candlestick by William Cafe fl. 1757–ca. 1802. Rococo/Georgian George II style, 1763/1764. Silver, single-candle candlestick on a raised, domed foot with a hexagonal rim, decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Ornament includes rocailles, plant tendrils, flowers, cartouches, shells, acanthus leaves and spiral-twisted relief decoration. Height 29 cm; diameter 16.9 cm; weight 695 g. Origin: London, England., A single ornate metal candlestick stands against a pale gray background, displaying a silvery finish with subtle darker tarnished areas; the upper socket has a flared rim and a bulbous section with raised leafy motifs, the slender stem features sculpted floral and scroll details and a few rounded nodes, and the broad base is shaped with curved edges and adorned with several raised flowers, leaves, and flowing decorative patterns in matching silver tones.
