Single-candle candlestick by William Cafe fl. 1757–ca. 1802, silver, 1763–1764, London, England. Rococo George II style: raised domed foot with hexagonal rim decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Ornament includes rocailles, plant tendrils, flowers, cartouches, shells, acanthus leaves and relief decoration; overall decoration is slightly spirally twisted. Function: lighting. Height 29 cm; diameter 16.9 cm; weight 695 g., A silver ornate object viewed from above with a central circular opening surrounded by raised floral and leaf decorations, resting on a square-ish base with scalloped edges and embossed floral motifs; the visible colors are silver and a dark brownish tone inside the central opening, against a white background.
