Platter lampshade by Digby & Smith, Benjamin fl. 1802–1807, goldsmith. Silver hemispherical lampshade with a non-original contemporary handle, smooth with a profiled ribbon edge. On the side, a relief plaque with the Czartoryski coat of arms on a paludament, under a princely mitre, with labres and the motto Badz co sie Be that as it may. Dated 1803/1804, London, England. Vessel; height 8.5 cm, diameter 15.2 cm, weight approx. 230 g., A polished metal dome-shaped cover with a rounded top knob, showing a smooth reflective surface with some scratches and small dark marks, a decorative element visible along one side near the rim, and a narrow raised edge around the bottom; colors visible include silver-gray of the metal, a muted darker gray on the knob and decorative element, and a light off-white background.
