Coffee pot by Harris, CS & Sons London; goldsmiths' firm, fl. 1817–1933 and Charles Stuart Harris maker, fl. 1852–1897. Purchased; scrap — purchased. Pear-shaped, ribbed coffee vessel with godron ornaments; belly decorated with a band of narrow half-cylinders and grooves. Supported on four ball-shaped, profiled, ribbed legs. High side spout-shaped handle and a contemporarily added wooden axial handle set in silver sockets. Upper edge edged with godron band; hinged lid domed in the center, topped with a bowling-pin finial. Dated 1895/1896. Great Britain, London, England. Height 21.2 cm; width 18.5 cm; depth 10 cm; weight 640 g., A metal pitcher with a hinged lid and tall curved spout sits against a pale background, the pitcher showing a reflective silver surface with visible scratches and small dents; it has a rounded body that tapers to a narrower neck with a decorative ridged rim and a band of horizontal grooves around the midsection interrupted by a textured rectangular panel, and it rests on small rounded feet. A dark handle with a matte finish attaches near the top and bottom of the body, and the lid is open, revealing the interior and a small decorative finial at the hinge. The visible colors are silver, black, and shades of gray from reflections and shadows.
