Coffee pot; maker: Harris, CS & Sons London, goldsmiths' firm, active 1817–1933 and Harris, Charles Stuart maker, fl. 1852–1897; provenance: purchased scrap - purchased. Pear-shaped, ribbed coffee vessel supported on four ball-shaped profiled legs; belly decorated with a band of narrow half-cylinders and grooves; godron ornaments; high side spout-shaped handle and a contemporarily added wooden axial handle set in silver sockets; upper edge edged with a godron band; hinged lid domed in the center, topped with a bowling-pin finial. Dated 1895–1896. London, England. Materials/technique: silver with wooden handle; height 21.2 cm, width 18.5 cm, depth 10 cm; weight 640 g., A shiny metal pitcher with a curved spout and an open hinged lid showing the interior, a dark handle attached to the body with a rounded knob near the lid, a rounded body with horizontal decorative ridges and a slightly flared neck edged with a scalloped rim, small rounded feet at the base, and visible scratches and tarnish; the visible colors are silver, black, and shades of gray.
