Wilejka in the Bernardine Garden; photograph, 1912; photographer Jan Bulhak 1876–1950; place of creation: Vilnius, Bernardine Garden; photographic print: 11.5 × 16.0 cm; album page: 31.0 × 23.5 cm., A sepia-toned photograph shows a river flowing over a low waterfall with white, foamy water cascading over a smooth ledge and swirling around dark rocks in the foreground; a log lies along the right riverbank. Behind the falls the river widens into a calm stretch reflecting light, bordered by grassy banks and a gently sloping hillside on the left that is dotted with shrubs and small trees. A group of taller trees forms a dense, darker stand on the right side of the image, creating contrast with the lighter hillside. The overall colors visible are shades of brown, beige, tan, cream, and darker brown.
