After the storm; 1886; illustration for Klosy; forest landscape showing landscapes during a storm; painting reproduced as a woodcut; graphic art; press illustration; Polish painting; artist: Feliks Brzozowski 1836–1892; reproduction by Angerer & Göschl Vienna; graphic and photographic studio., The image shows a landscape scene rendered in sepia tones with a textured, stippled appearance. A group of trees with dark trunks and foliage occupies the middle and background, some leaning and some upright, with lighter highlights on branches and leaves. In the foreground there is a flowing stream with lighter, foamy water moving over rocks and surrounded by grassy banks and exposed roots. Several rocks and patches of brush dot the streamside, and a few taller grasses frame the lower left. The sky above is mottled with lighter and darker sepia areas suggesting cloud shapes.
