In the foreground there is a wooden cart loaded with belongings and covered by fabric, hitched to oxen and accompanied by a few horses standing nearby; two dogs are close to the cart. Several figures in period clothing are gathered around the animals and cart, some mounted on horses and others standing, with varied headgear and cloaks. The scene includes a paved or muddy ground with puddles and grass clumps, and distant small trees and a vague horizon beyond the main buildings. Colors visible are shades of black, white, and gray.
