Caption
A dog scene with a dog barking at a goat, Roos, Philipp Peter 1657–1706 painter. The general tone of light browns and shades of pink with cumulus clouds, the glow of the last plan beyond the arcade of the bridge with ruined buildings surrounds the view of urban buildings by the river. In the foreground, a dog barking at a goat that is attacking it; on the right side, a sheep lying near a tree trunk. 18th century, Italy, overdoor, height 90.0 cm, width 115.0 cm., A large shaggy animal with curved horns stands with its head lowered, showing textured fur in shades of brown, tan, and dark brown, with highlights of lighter beige; its legs and hooves are visible and darker toward the lower parts. The ground beneath appears earthy with greenish patches and darker brown shadows, and a pale area at the lower left suggests a lighter surface. In the background there are indistinct shapes and rocky forms in deep brown and muted orange tones, and a small dark green cluster of vegetation is visible near the lower right. The overall palette is dominated by browns, tans, dark greens, muted oranges, and beige.
