Stefan Czarniecki 1599–1665, unknown copyist from Bacciarelli's painting circle. Portrait of Stefan Czarniecki on canvas, oval shape, framed in a wide heavy late 19th-century frame. The bust shows the hetman in a red zupan fastened at the neck with a decorative button and a red delia with a wide fur collar. The head, with expressive features — prominent nose, full mouth, wide eyebrows over deep-set eyes, and a long thick beard — is turned three-quarters to the viewer’s right. Neutral dark brown-olive background. Painted during the first half of Stanislaw August’s reign; reminiscent of a 17th-century full-length portrait of Czarniecki with a baton. Circa 1780, Warsaw. Painting; height 58 cm, width 45 cm., An oval framed oil portrait shows an older man with a long gray beard and receding hairline looking toward the viewer; his face is illuminated against a dark background, revealing skin tones of warm beige and rosy highlights and a solemn expression. He wears a red garment with darker red shading and subtle decorative elements, and the painting is set within an ornate oval frame that is gold in color with carved leaf and ribbon motifs and aged patina. The surrounding area outside the frame appears as a flat gray background.
