Son of King Augustus III, Frederick Christian Leopold Wettin 1722–1763?, unknown artist. Standing three-quarters turned slightly to the right, looking straight ahead. Age approx. 15. Hazel eyes. A grey wig en catogan. Dressed in a red justaucorps with gold braiding, under it a cuirass, worn over a yellow, gold-braided waistcoat, revealing the collar and cuffs of a white shirt. On the cuirass are the gold initials FA, topped with a royal crown. Across the chest is a blue ribbon with the Order of the White Eagle, and at the waist is a belt of silver cords with fringes. At the left side is a rapier hilt. The right hand is resting akimbo, the left resting on the tabletop, on which is a fragment of an ermine cloak. In the background, the sky is covered with gray clouds. 1730–1770, Dresden. Portrait, 81 × 65 cm., A painted portrait of a person with pale skin and powdered white hair wearing an ornate outfit, seated against a muted cloudy background in tones of gray and blue; the clothing includes a red coat with gold embroidered trim and decorative elements, a dark inner garment with a blue sash across the torso, and a large decorative badge at the waist, plus a silver-gray tasseled sash; one hand rests on a carved wooden surface and the other is placed on the hip; the image is set within a wide gilded frame with carved ornamentation in gold tones.
