Maria Feodorovna Sophie Dorothea of Württemberg, 1759–1828, wife of Tsar Paul I. Engraving after a portrait painted by Jean Henri Benner in 1821 by Friedrich Theodor Michael John 1769–1843. Depicts Maria Feodorovna wearing a diamond tiara and pearl necklace. The tiara, made around 1800, consists of 1,386 Brazilian diamonds and Indian briolettes, with a historic 13-carat pink diamond at the center purchased by the Tsar. Engraving dedicated to Helena Radziwill, née Przezdziecka 1753–1821. Graphic print; height 29.9 cm, width 22.4 cm., A grayscale engraved portrait shows a woman with curled hair wearing an ornate tiara and drop earrings, a dress with puffed sleeves and a ruffled neckline, and several layered pearl necklaces and a pearl sash; she is set inside an oval vignette with a densely stippled background, all framed by an elaborate rectangular decorative border featuring floral and geometric motifs.
