In the center Christ is shown frontally, holding the open Gospel book in his left hand and blessing with his right. He wears a vermilion, gilded chiton with a sash patterned with stars and a dark green himation. The garment folds are fine, stylized in a 17th-century baroque manner. The Savior’s face, with an olive complexion, is elongated and ascetic, framed by long brown hair and a pointed beard. On both sides are the letters of the Christological monogram IC XC and the inscription Lord Almighty. The background and the cruciform halo are gilded; the frame is muted green. 19th century, Russia. Height 36 cm, width 31.5 cm., A painted icon showing a central frontal figure with a halo behind the head, wearing layered robes in shades of red, dark green, and black, with visible gold and ochre background tones; the face and hands are painted in brownish skin tones with dark hair and a short beard, and the figure holds an open book with a red-edged cover and pale pages while making a hand gesture; the image is set within a series of rectangular borders in muted brown, olive, and red, and the paint surface shows fine cracking and age-related texture.
