On the eight-pointed cross is an image of the Crucifixion. Below the cross on which Christ is suspended is a grotto with Adam's skull and the tree of Seth; at the level of the footstool is a view of Jerusalem; on two sides of Christ on a long beam are the sun and the moon. In the upper part is a bust-like image of the Lord of Hosts, below which is depicted the dove of the Holy Spirit. The casting is rough. The background is navy blue, sky blue, and white enamel. The reverse is engraved with the words of a prayer to the Holy Cross and an image of an eight-pointed cross. 19th century, Russia. Cross height 34.3 cm, width 17.3 cm., A metal cruciform object with a central figure in relief of a person on a cross, surrounded by additional small relief figures and ornamental details; the cross shows areas of blue and white enamel accenting recessed sections and borders; the metal appears golden-brass in color with a beaded border around the cross arms and decorative raised motifs including winged figures near the top, a standing figure at the lower crosspiece, architectural shapes, and rounded medallion-like designs toward the bottom; the background is plain and light gray.
